Velvet may be the fabric of the season, but a classic corner arrangement still rules the roost when it comes to sofa design. Corner sofas have continued to increase is popularity this year, with the rise of open plan living and relaxed style living spaces. Sales of corner sofas were up 56 per cent last season and we expect to see this continue to grow. Many ranges offer storage solutions in the chaise end, which are great for those short of space.
Mint is the perfect colour to give your living space a cool, refreshing vibe. Create an informal, effortless feel by mixing it with relaxed denim blue and slate grey, then bring the whole palette to life with pops of crisp white, chartreuse and zesty lime. Make it mellower in winter by switching in accents of navy blue and soft purple.
If you have not got the cash to splash on new furniture, why not take a decorative approach and surround the TV with a mix of framed pictures and shelving in the same colour as the bezel of the screen. This will make your set look like a deliberate part of the display.
Pattern can work as well in small living rooms as it does in large, but it pays to think carefully about where you put it. Wool fabrics are made for cosy country style firesides, but keep tartans, checks, paisleys and florals confined to throws and cushions on sofas and armchairs, leaving walls for plain paint finishes. Add a natural flooring rug to bring the two sides of a room together.
